Even More Chalkboard Stuff

I know you are probably chalkboarded out but I couldn't let these ideas go passed without sharing them

Chalkboard Speech Bubble - have your child hold up the sign each year on their birthday - Image from The Macs Blog - you should check out the whole post - great party styling and most of it DIY

Another Great Chalkboard Use - from Aubrey & Lindsay's Blog

My Creative Space - Part 2

So this week I actually found a moment to work on a new gift swing tag design - still needs a little bit of work - but here is where it is at. Each tag is machine sewed and then the to and from are hand stamped. And all topped off with a matching piece of twine.

Hope to get these in my etsy and made it store in the next week or so (PS wholesale orders are always welcome!)

My Creative Space - Creative Collective - Green or Green Project

This month I have been working on my project for the Creative Collective Green or Green Project. You may have seen my little teaser last week in my Creative Space post. Well I have finally finished them and here is the finished product - chalkboard place mats!

I have needed some new placemats for a while now (I have been borrowing my mums for about a year now whenever we had a dinner party!) but I was hesitent to splurge on them because they are really quite expensive. I picked up this set of 6 placements from my local Vinnies for $4 (I think they had touristy photos of London on them but I forgot to take a photo before I painted them), then I simply applied one coat of basecoat and two coats on chalkboard paint which I had already had at home for my chalkboard gift tags (did you like that subtle plug there!)

I am really happy with how they turned out (if I say so myself!) and I have another 6 round ones all lined up ready to be painted to complete my set of 12.

Scrabble

I was never a scrabble player - neither as a child or an adult - but I do love the tiles, racks, and general nature of it. There is a timeless quality to it. Here are some scrabble inspirations for you:

Endless Summer

Image from here

It's raining, it's pouring, it is sunny and 30 degrees! I don't know what is going on with the weather- but i am enjoying this last little burst of summer we are currently experiencing in Sydney. I have been going swimming at lunchtimes a couple of times a week - and on days like this - it is hard to drag myself out of the water and back to work.

If you are in Sydney - are you taking advantage of this last little burst of summer too?

My Creative Space & Bright Sea Publishing - Custom Stamp

I was recently asked by some of my very closest friends to make a hand carved stamp of their newest venture, "Bright Sea Publishing" logo. Sarah (of Sarah Allen Consulting) and her husband Chris Allen, started up Bright Sea Publishing, a Sydney based micropublisher, in 2010 when they were looking to publish Chris' first novel, "Defender of the Faith". Sarah, being the savvy social media guru that she is, has been creating a buzz around Chris' first novel through both facebook and twitter - even to the point of crowdsurfing the book cover.
So - here are some photos of my process and the final product.

You can read all about Chris Allen and his first novel "Defender of the Faith" here:
